Assessment of the quality of some ecologically stressed territories during the COVID-19 pandemic in Baku
Summary
Under the conditions of quarantine applied in Baku in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic on July 20-August 10, 2020 an integral assessment of the change in the individual stable development in plant species Quercus ilex, Оlea europea, Platanus orientalis, Ligustrum japonica was carried out in environments considered to be environmentally unfavorable. The level of variability of indicators of fluctuating asymmetry of morphological features in the leaves of these plant species was studied. The results of the study were comparatively analyzed with the results of the studies conducted in the same study areas and completely on the same individuals of the same plant species in 2016-2018. It was found that the level of environmental pollution in the studied areas of Baku decreased compared to previous years. It was determined that decrease of the ecological stress led to beginning of the self-recovery process of urban ecosystem. It should be taken into account in environmental management.
