POLYPHENOL COMPOUNDS OF PRUNELLA VULGARIS L. AND P. GRANDIFLORA (L.) TURRA SPECIES Spreading IN AZERBAIJAN
Summary
The qualitative composition and quantitative content of biologically active substances of Prunella vulgaris L. and P. grandiflora (L.) Turra species growing in Azerbaijan was determined. It was found that the sum of polyphenols in various organs of the studied species ranges from 1767.9 mg% to 6503.3 mg%. The sum of catechins is from 606.1 to 973.2 mg%, flavonols from 540 to 985.5, anthocyanins from 321.6 to 4803.5 mg%. The largest amount of polyphenols accumulates in the flowers of Prunella grandiflora. It was determined that the main components of catechins are epicatechin and epicatechin gallate, the main components of anthocyanins are cyanidin and peonidin, and the main components of flavonols are rutin and quercetin. It was revealed that polyphenols include components possessing hypotonic, cardiotonic, antisclerotic activity. The flowers of Prunella grandiflora can be used as a raw material to obtain a concentrate of P-active substances. Species of the genus Prunella can be introduced as a medicinal plant.
