Phytocoenological characteristics and resource potential of some useful plants distributied in the desert and semi-desert areas of the lowlands of Karabakh

Summary

The article provides information on the modern state of the flora and vegetation of the desert and semi-deserts of the lowlands of Karabakh, as well as the phytocenological characteristics of useful plants. Studying the ethno-characteristic of the useful plants of the area, the bio-ecological characteristics of the resources of special importance, the modern state of the population structure and reserves is one of the problems that need to be solved. The territory was studied floristically and it was determined that there is a lot of natural resources of useful plant species belonging to tamarix, camelthorn, marshpepper smartweed, capers, orach, huckleberry, marsh-beet, saltwort and other genera, and the phytocenological status of some useful species was studied. It is known that the vegetation of the area is dominated by wormwood, wormwood-ephemeral semi-desert plants. During the ethnobotanical surveys, it was discovered that many useful plants of the flora are widely used by the local population as fodder, food, medicine, essential oil, vitamin-containing, decoration and etc. During the conducted research, Solanum rostratum Dunal., Hibiscus trionum L. species which were not previously indicated for the flora of the are and the formations and associations formed by themwere newly discovered.
