Flora and vegetation of intrazonal ecosystems in the northeastern part of the Lesser Caucasus
Summary
In addition to zonal vegetation, intrazonal vegetation also predominates in the northeastern part of the Lesser Caucasus. However, the intrazonal type of vegetation is not typical for this natural zone and does not form a free zone. This type of vegetation, formed under the influence of special edaphic factors, occurs within one or more zones. Intrazonal vegetation includes the vegetation of river valleys, swamp vegetation, vegetation of rocky outcrops, coastal vegetation, vegetation of rocky outcrops and vegetation of various reservoirs, solonchaks. When moving from one zone to another, the intrazonal vegetation changes, occupying a small area and bearing signs of this zone. In certain periods, intrazonal vegetation prevails over zonal vegetation. Although the intrazonal vegetation does not occupy very large areas, the national economy is rich in fodder, food, medicinal, melliferous and essential oil plants. Economically important intrazonal plants are more common in floodplain meadows, saline areas, rocks, and outcrops.
