Current state of Tugai forests in Garayazi State Nature Reserve

Summary

A comprehensive invertarization of the flora biodiversity of Garayazi State Nature Reserve was carried out, and 379 species of higher plants belonging to 73 families, 229 genera, 137 species of lichens belonging to 22 families and 37 genera, and 67 species of mosses belonging to 16 families and 27 genera were found. The analysis according to biomorphs shows that the area is dominated by perennial grasses with 221 species. 13 trees, 48 shrubs, and 2 semi-shrubs were found in the Tugai forest of Garayazi State Nature Reserve. During the researches, significant changes in the species composition of the forest were observed as a result of the drought and the decrease of soil moisture in the areas where forests were cut down.
