Growth and development traits of some Turgay relict flora species
Summary
From the beginning of the Oligocene stage of the Tertiary period, the deciduous and broad-leaved Turgay flora begins to replace the Poltav flora. The deciduous species such as Acer L., Fagus L., Ulmus L., Betula L., Quercus L., Juglans L., Pterocarya Runth., Fraxinus L., Vitis L., Zelkova Spach. and etc. prevailed in the Turgay flora. Relict plants from the Turgay flora in the Eastern Caucasus, including Azerbaijan, are more common in Talysh, Colchis and partially in the forests covering the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus. The article presents the growth and development traits of sprouts, onetwo-three year seedlings of some plants species belonging to the Turgay flora under the conditions of Absheron.
