Review of species of the genus Euphrasia L. (Orobanchaceae Vent.) in Azerbaijan

Summary

This work is the result of a critical review of the herbarium materials of the Herbarium of the Institute of Botany (BAK), including the latest expeditionary collections, taking into account the literature data on the genus Eyebright (Euphrasia L.) of the Orobanchaceae Vent. family in order to identify the taxonomic composition of the genus. A summary of the genus Euphrasia for the flora of Azerbaijan is given, numbering 12 species instead of 16, of which 6 are endemic, including species described from Azerbaijan: E.kurdica Kem.-Nath., E.karjaginii Kem.-Nath., E.nisami Kem.-Nath. Some species are subject to nomenclature changes. Referring to literature sources and databases (World plants: Synonymic Checklist of the Vascular Plants of the World), the species E.caucasica Juz., E.georgica Kem.-Nath., E.townsendiana Freyn ex Wettst. E.stricta auct. are classified as synonyms E.pectinata Tenore. A new key for the identification of Azerbaijani species of the genus Euphrasia is presented, the main synonyms, information on types and geographical distribution are indicated. Data on the distribution of these species have been specified. A new location in Nakhchivan has been identified for E.juzepchukii Denissova.
