Ethnoveterinary use of fodder plants in some lowland regions of Karabakh and evaluation of their productivity
Summary
The research was conducted in 2021-2022 on the basis of field research and ethnobotanical surveys in the lowland regions of Karabakh (Barda and Tartar districts). The purpose of the research was to determine the dominant or subdominant coenosis of fodder plants in pasture areas, to assess the productivity on botanical groups and to investigate the ways of use in ethnoveterinary. From the surveys conducted among 28 farmers, the purpose and methods of using eight fodder plants were studied. It has been known that in ethnoveterinary, fodder plants are used for various diseases by infusing them, mixing with powdered fodder, and preparing ointments. Also, the productivity of the Artemisia lerchiana - Stipa szowitsiana + Atriplex leucoclada + Bromus japonicus + Chenopodium album association in the ephemeral-wormwood formation was estimated at 14.2s/ha (wet weight), 6.7s/ha (dry weight), and the productivity of the Glycyrrhiza glabra + Bothriochloa ischaemum + Medicago coerulea association in the forb-legumegrass formation - 21.6s/ha (wet weight), 13.9s/ha (dry weight). It was found that the main part of the productivity on botanical groups belongs to miscellaneous herbs in both coenosis.
