Electron microscopic study of diatom algae distributed in continental ponds of Khachmaz and Shabran regions
Summary
Algae one of the oldest life forms on Earth, are organisms that can be found almost anywhere in the biosphere, with genetic and phenotypic diversity that live as phototroph, heterotroph or myxotroph. Diatoms (Bacillariophyta) are single-celled eukaryotic primitive plants with a newly formed external specific silicon coating. The article presents the study of diatom algae distributed in the continental ponds of Khachmaz and Shabran districts by electron microscopic methods. In the field of systematics, it is possible to obtain accurate information for determining algae based on the delicate structures of these organisms by application of electron microscopic methods. The goal is to study the ecological characteristics, taxonomic structure and morphological structure of diatom algae collected from the ponds of Khachmaz and Shabran districts in the north-eastern part of the Greater Caucasus. As a result of research, Stauroneis smithii Grunow, Navicula oblonga, N. cryptotenella, Luticola mutica, Pinnularia viridis species were determined. Pinnularia viridis is the dominant of the studied algae, found in the range of 27° C and pH 5.
