Promising medicinal plants distributed in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, their therapeutic effect and collection of gene pool
Summary
The article gives information about the results of research carried out on floristic, geobotanical, systematic, plant resources and ecological methods performed on the basis of materials collected in the expedition to Goy-Gol, Tovuz (Asrik forest), Jeyranchol, Eldar reserves in 2022 and from Zangilan region in 2021. Prospective wild and cultivated medicinal, rare and endangered plants distributed in the study areas were analyzed. For the purpose of deep and comprehensive study of medicinal plants on a scientific basis, the Institute of Botany of ANAS carries out research work on the project “Prospects for the use of medicinal plants distributed in the flora of Azerbaijan” and on the 3rd edition of the “Red Book of Azerbaijan”. In this regard, in-depth and comprehensive study of medicinal, rare and endangered plants, collection of their gene pool, identification, introduction, widespread cultivation of industrially important medicinal plants and their inclusion in the crop rotation are an economically important issue.
