Rare and disappearing species of the genus Crataegus L. in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic
Summary
The article discusses issues related to the protection and restoration of some species of the genus Crataegus in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. It was found that as a result of drastic environmental changes and increased pressure from anthropogenic factors, some valuable species that make up the gene pool of the genus Crataegus are on the verge of extinction. Based on the collected material, the current state of the species Crataegus caucasica, C. eriantha, C.orientalis, C. pontica and C.tournefortii was analysed. The reasons for their reduction have been identified, and the maps-schemes of the growing areas have been compiled. For the first time, the assessment of these species was carried out according to the categories and criteria of the IUCN “Red Data Book” (Red List of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN). In order to prevent the reduction of the ranges of these representatives of the genus Crataegus, it is proposed to introduce a ban on their irrational and intensive felling, as well as to organize the measures for their restoration in the corresponding biotopes.
