Chemical composition of the essential oil of Pimpinella aurea growing in Azerbaijan

Summary

For the first time, data are given on the chemical composition of essential oil of the Azerbaijani populations of Pimpinella aurea. Raw material P. aurea for obtaining essential oil is collected on dry slopes in Gosmolan and Shonachola districts of the Lerik region (height 1369 m above sea level) in the fruiting phase. The essential oil was obtained by hydrodistillation. The chemical composition of the essential oil was determined by chromato-mass-spectrometry on a Aqilent Techolgies chromatograph with a quadrupole mass spectrometer (5975С) as a detector. Essential oil from umbrellas with fruits is an easymoving liquid of greenish-yellow color with a spicy smell. The yield of essential oil (for airdry raw materials) was 0.57 ± 0.11%. As part of the essential oil, 32 individual components were found. Most of the essential oil components of the study species have been identified for the first time. Major components are aromadendreneoxid- (1) (31.11%) and 3-phenyl-2-provenyl ether of cyclobutane-carboxylic acid (16.94%). Significantly fewer differ in trans-4,4-dimethyl-2-hexene (9.90), trans-longipinocarveol (7.64%), sabinene (7.07%), 2-(1-cyclopentenyl) furan (5.20%), 4-carvomentenol (3.23%), O-cymene and β-bisabolene (2.07% each). The content of the remaining components varies from 0.77 to 1.64%
