A new botanical-geographical zoning of the flora of Azerbaijan
Summary
In This article presents a new botanicalgeographical zoning scheme for Azerbaijan. Flora and vegetation regions, as well as the ecological and geographic features of industrial areas, are identified with 20 botanicalgeographical regions. Unlike floristic and geobotanical zoning, the proposed botanicalgeographical zoning is based on the natural boundaries of the territory, its flora, and, in particular, the distribution of endemic and native species. Although areas with very similar plant taxonomic compositions, compared by zones, are combined, the newly developed botanical-geographical zoning of Azerbaijan does not claim to identify floristic or botanicalgeographical provinces or regions, but rather represents a step-by-step scheme of naturalhistorical regions convenient for mapping plant distribution. Taking all of this into account, botanical and geographical regions were classified and mapped using a new zoning scheme (ArcGIS Pro 3.3).
