Taxonomic composition, ecological and chemical characteristics of the genus Lepidium L.
Summary
The data on synonymy, nomenclature, as well as the ecological environment and geographical distribution of representatives of the genus Lepidium L. in the flora of Azerbaijan have been clarified. During field studies conducted in Absheron, Shamakhi regions and Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, an analysis of the vegetation cover and a phytocenological assessment of the areas of distribution of species of the genus Lepidium were carried out. It was established that according to the life form, Lepidium propinquum, L. Boissieri, L. campestre, L. crassifolium, L. persicum, L. draba, L. lyratum and L. latifolium are perennial, and L. sativum, L. aucheri, L. vesicarium, L. perfoliatum, L. ruderale and L. pinnatifidum are annual herbs. Species belonging to the genus Lepidium are widespread in the flora of Azerbaijan in various altitude zones and ecological conditions. When analyzing life forms according to C. Raunkiaer, it was found that most species are hemicryptophytes (8 species, 57%). The proportion of therophytes is 43% (6 species). The content of flavonoids in the leaves of L. vesicarium and L. latifolium species, which are characterized by high abundance, was studied. Three flavonoids were found in the sum of flavonoids of the extracts from the leaves of both species: quercetin, kaempferol and rutin.
