Ethnobotanical analysis of leguminous crops distributed in the territory of the Aran zone of Karabakh
Summary
The scientific-research work was carried out on the lowland territory of Karabakh in 2023-2024. Data on the ethnic use of plants were collected among 65 local residents aged 40 years and older, living in the study area. It is established that 142 of the 1300 species common in this area belong to legumes. The genera of family such as Astragalus (38 species), Trifolium (25 species) and Vicia (16 species) are widespread in the flora of the region. Of them, 114 species are fodder, 18 – decorative, 15 – medicinal, 8 – melliferous, 3 – essential oil, 1 – dye, 1 – technical, and 1 – both food and medicinal. Data on the ethnic use of 12 species of legumes were collected, and their consumer value and reliability were evaluated based on the number of citations. It was found that the value of use was the highest in Melilotus officinalis (0.70), Trifolium repens L. and T. pratense L. (both 0.61) according to the number of citations, while Glycyrrhiza glabra L. (91.06%) and Coronilla varia L. (98.37%) had higher reliability degree in some diseases.
