The genus Helleborine (Epipactis Zinn., Orchidaceae Juss.) in the flora of Azerbaijan

Summary

The article provides a systematic analysis of species belonging to the genus Helleborine (Epipactis Zinn.) of the Orchid family (Orchidaceae Juss.), distributed in Azerbaijan. The Orchid family, including the genus Helleborine, has been studied by us for the new multi-volume edition of the “Flora of Azerbaijan”. The systematic processing of the genus was based on the rules adopted in the multi-volume “Illustrated Flora of Turkey”, which is currently being published. Based on literature, fund materials, and herbarium and monitoring data collected during expeditions organized in recent years, the distribution of eight species of this genus in Azerbaijan has been determined: E.palustris, E.veratrifolia, E.helleborine, E.atrorubens, E.persica, E.microphylla, E. turcica, E. rechingeri. The article provides information on the description of the genus and determination keys of species, priority name, nomenclature types of taxa, basionym, synonyms, flowering and fruiting time, growing conditions, distribution in Azerbaijan and geographical type.
